We have had the honor of helping Yum! Brands corporate and franchise employees and their family members earn college degrees for nearly a decade and a half. In December 2004, Yum! Brands engaged our support to help the Yum! Brands community, including corporate and franchise employees and their family members, earn undergraduate and graduate degrees. Since then, much has changed, as we seek ways to better serve the Yum! Brands community:

What has changed over the years? Take a look....

• If you are a career employee of Yum! Brands, perhaps you remember hearing about us under the other titles that we have taken on at the direction of Yum! Brands leaders. What we are called has changed over the years... what we do is even more amazing!:
  • From 2004 to 2008, we served as the Yum! Virtual Counseling Center - the access was virtual, while the counseling is real.
  • From 2008 to 2016, we took on the title of being the Yum! University Counseling Center, as we engaged the support of a number of colleges and universities that have evaluated Yum! University professional training for college credit.
  • We now are called the Higher Education Resource Center (HERC), as we bring incredible resources to help Yum! Brands corporate and franchise employees and their family members, such as our degree exploration system, DegreeQuest, and our awesome student support site, SOCRATES ®.
    
    
• We have always served as advocates for the students we support, empowering them to discover degrees that are best for them, minimizing loss of credit in transfer and aligning with their needs, goals and desires. That aspect has not changed, however ...
  • When we first teamed with Yum! Brands, we had 89 partnership colleges and universities in our degree exploration system, DegreeQuest.
    • Now, we have hundreds of accredited colleges and universities in DegreeQuest.
      
  • When we first teamed with Yum! Brands, we had more than 1,900 degree plans in our degree exploration system, DegreeQuest.
    • Now, we have more than 14,500 degrees from Associate's to Ph.D. that can be completed anytime, anywhere in the world available from our participating colleges and universities. Which ones are right for you to consider? With this free support, we'll show you! We'll build an electronic education record for you in DegreeQuest that includes all of the college credit you have earned in the past (courses taken from colleges, credit for Yum! University professional training, college credit for military training, college level examinations, and more). Then, with the click of a button, DegreeQuest can stream your credit into the degree requirements from colleges and universities across the nation to find the best matches for you. We send each student several of the best matches so they can make an informed choice - Dare to compare, that's what our students are empowered to do with DegreeQuest!
      
      
• When we first started supporting Yum! Brands employees and their family members, degree exploration was the only service that we offered. Now, finding the right degree is still an important part of the service we provide, but that's not all! Our support is available to you from admission to graduation:
  • We provide every student who enrolls with one of our participating colleges and universities free access to our student support website, SOCRATES ®, which has thousands of links to resources to empower you to earn the degree you desire quickly and at a fraction of the cost. Resources linked to SOCRATES ® include:
    • More than 500 semester hours of tuition-free college courses from many of the best universities in the nation - use these to augment the instruction you receive at the college or university of your choice or to gain the knowledge needed to earn college credit by examinations accepted by the majority of colleges in the nation! These include Hollywood-style video courses that bring the subjects to life on the screen, cameras in the classrooms at top-rated universities, and more.
    • Considering earning college credit using nationally-recognized college level examinations? After all, they cost 93% less than the average tuition at state colleges in 2018 at the in-state rate. SOCRATES ® has hundreds of free practice examinations so you can know you are ready before you challenge the examinations for credit.
    • College textbooks can be expensive, but SOCRATES ® can help. There are links to dozens of low cost textbook providers that empower students to purchase textbooks at deeply discounted prices, rent textbooks for a fraction of the new cost, or even download textbooks.
