  • Is it possible to earn a New York teaching license-eligible baccalaureate degree at a distance from a college or university in another state? Absolutely! Although the state does not endorse, pre-approve or provide accreditation to programs from colleges outside of New York, they have defined the pathway to completion of a college teacher education program in another state through distance learning.   • Is it possible to earn a degree at a distance without going deeply in debt with student loans? Absolutely! Although the scholarships provided by the Career Training Program are only applicable for the approved colleges in the city, students eligible for federal financial aid may be able to earn a baccalaureate degree at any of our participating colleges and universities with the federal government covering much (or possibly all) of the costs. Federal financial aid, such as Pell Grants and Supplemental Education Grants, make it possible to earn a degree without having to go deeply into debt.
